Dr. Michael R. Castellano is a board-certified general and
laparoscopic surgeon. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of
Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He
specializes in various areas of surgery, utilizing the latest
techniques and minimally-invasive advancements.
Dr. Castellano was born and raised in Staten Island, New York,
and graduated from Staten Island Academy. He received his
Bachelor of Science degree at Dickinson College in Carlisle,
Pennsylvania. Dr. Castellano returned to New York and earned his Doctor of
Medicine from SUNY College of Medicine at Downstate.
He completed his surgical residency at Staten Island University
Hospital in Staten Island, New York.
Over the course of the last fifteen years, Dr. Castellano has
published numerous articles in the medical literature and has
presented original surgical research at many national & international
conferences, including Boston, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, Orlando
and France. He has received numerous awards and accolades for
academic, research and clinical achievement.
Dr. Castellano
continues to remain actively involved in all aspects of clinical
research and teaching at Staten Island University Hospital and
enjoys training and educating the surgical residents, as well as
medical students and physician assistant students.
Dr. Castellano is member of the American College of Surgeons,
the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of the
State of New York and The Academy of Medicine of Richmond.
Dr. Castellano spent his childhood summers in Italy with his
extended family. He is near-fluent in Italian and continues to visit
Italy regularly. He is proud to practice in the same community
as his father, Dr. Michael A. Castellano, a prominent
pulmonologist on Staten Island for over thirty years. In 2005,
he moved his office to The Heart, Lung & Surgery Building, a
state-of-the-art private medical facility conveniently located
on the campus of Staten Island University Hospital. Dr. Castellano currently resides in New Jersey with his wife, son
and daughter. |
